Select the Oracle Enterprise Manager interface that you want to use to manage the database, and then click Next.
Oracle Enterprise Manager provides the following Web-based user interfaces for managing databases:
Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control
Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control
Note: You can perform the same database administration tasks by using either Grid Control or Database Control. However, Database Control enables you to manage only a single database. If you want to manage more than one database, then you must perform any one of the following tasks:
Configure a separate Database Control for each database that you want to manage.
Install and configure Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g, and use Grid Control to manage all databases and other targets on this system.
The following sections describe these interfaces.
Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control provides a centralized interface for managing and monitoring multiple targets on multiple hosts within your environment. Targets can include Oracle Database installations, application servers, Oracle Net listeners, and host computers. To use Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g must be installed in your environment and an Oracle Management Agent must be installed on this system.
If Oracle Universal Installer detects an Oracle Management Agent running on this system, then you can choose to use Grid Control to manage the database. If you select this option, then you must specify the Oracle Management Service that you want to use to manage the database.
If Oracle Universal Installer does not detect a running Oracle Management Agent on this system, then you cannot choose to use Grid Control. However, you can choose to install an Oracle Management Agent after you install the Oracle Database. This would enable you to use Grid Control to centrally manage the database and other targets on this system.

Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control provides a Web-based interface that you can use to manage a single Oracle Database installation. It provides the same database management features that Grid Control provides, but without the features to manage other targets on this or other systems.
If an Oracle Management Agent is not running on this system, then the Database Control option is selected by default. If an Oracle Management Agent is installed, then you can choose to use Database Control to manage the database, in addition to using Grid Control.
Note: You may want different administrators to have privileges to manage this database, without giving them access to manage all targets through Grid Control. To achieve this, you can choose to use Database Control to manage the database if an Oracle Management Agent is running on this system.
If you choose to use Database Control to manage the database, then you can also enable Oracle Enterprise Manager to send e-mail notifications when specific database events occur. To enable e-mail notifications:
Select Enable Email Notifications.
In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server field, enter the host name of your outgoing mail (SMTP) server.
Oracle Universal Installer verifies that the mail server you specify exists.
In the Email Address field, specify the e-mail address of the administrative user or distribution list that should receive the notifications.
Note: If required, you can configure e-mail notifications after the installation is completed.
